CDS 101/110 -- Fall 2004
Week 9: Limits of Performance |
||
OverviewMonday: This lecture investigates some of the limits of performance for feedback systems, including the effects of right half plane poles and zeros on the closed loop system performance. A magnetic levitation system and lateral control of the Caltech ducted fan are used to illustrate the basic concepts. Wednesday: This lecture will use a detailed design example to illustrate the techniques of loop analysis, loop shaping, and limits of performance. Friday: Thanksgiving holidayHandouts

HomeworkThis homework set provides practice in specification, design and limits of control systems in the frequency domai. The first two problems explore some of the effects of right half plane poles and zeros on control performance. The third problem (CDS 110) is a design problem for the pitch axis of the Caltech ducted fan system.
