Interface Dynamics in Microstructure Evolution Qing Nie, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, University of California, Irvine Monday, April 24, 200011:00 AM to 12:00 PM Steele 102 The pattern of multi-phase microstructures in materials is a key variable in setting its macroscopic mechanical properties. One of the main difficulty to study such system is the presence of interfaces between different phases. In this talk, I will consider diffusional evolution in multi-phase and anisotropic elastic media. In addition to studying the physical problems, I will focus on some challenging mathematical and computational issues related to the interface dynamics in microstructure evolution. |
