Dynamic iteration using reduced order models:
A method for simulating large scale modular systems

Abstract:  We present an iterative method for simulating large scale modular systems using reduced order models that preserve the interconnection structure. Our method involves simulating in turn each subsystem (unreduced) connected to reduced order models of the rest of the subsystems. The data from the simulation is used to update the reduced order model for that particular subsystem. We provide a theoretical analysis of convergence and accuracy of our method. In addition we provide various numerical examples and some comparisons with the more familiar waveform relaxation technique.
