CALTECH Ducted Fan

California Institute of Technology

Project Overview

[Caltech ducted fan] The Caltech Ducted Fan is a flight control experiment whose dynamics are representatvie of the longitudinal dynamics of an aircraft. The experiment has been designed to study rapid transition between hover, forward flight and reverse flight, as well as other agressive flight manuevers. It serves as a test stand for laboratory validation of a variety of theory and software being developed at Caltech, including LPV,MPC and nonlinear control, robust nonlinear anaysis, model validation and real-time control algorithm.
