The solution of the odes in the 5th problem was kind of ugly, so I used Maple to do it. It was just copying, so what was the point?

Well, the goal of the problem was to work out the general case (damped, forced) of the SDOF ocillator as we will see it throughout the course in many contexts. The use of Maple is fine, but it is important to understand the fundamental concepts in solving second order ODEs, i.e. particular versus homogeneous solutions, application of initial conditions, etc..
