Some of the questions on homework #2 required lecture #3.1 to solve. Why did you do this?

This was actually on purpose. The intent of homework #2 was to have you solve this out "by hand", using the tools we had learned to that point (ODEs, basically), so that you could see what types of computations were behind the frequency response plots that we talked about today.
