Abstract: This talk will be divided into three parts to shed light on important issues in cross-disciplinary research. The first part of the talk will present a brief synopsis of my past experiences in cross disciplinary research with the intent of highlighting a university faculty member's perspective on cross disciplinary research. The second part of the talk
will focus on institutional culture issues for research universities in fostering cross disciplinary research. Finally, the talk will focus on major issues and best practices in building university-industry partnerships.
