Research Interests

The interdisciplinary application of feedback analysis and control tools to research problems in diverse fields such as climate modeling, fluid dynamics, and telescope control. Specific topics include: 

• Control development for the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT): modeling,  active, and adaptive optics.  This application motivates research on implementable control design for large-scale distributed dynamic systems.

• Geo-engineering, and modeling and dynamic analysis of feedback processes in climate systems using tools from control engineering; (current work joint with Eli Tziperman).

• Flow control and controls-oriented modeling for fluid systems (see MURI)
