Biography: I received my PhD in Control and Dynamical Systems from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in May 2011 and my PhD thesis won the Milton and Francis Clauser Doctoral Prize as the best campus-wide PhD thesis at Caltech. I did my PhD under the supervision of Profs. John C. Doyle and Richard Murray and in collaboration with several people including Steven Low, Ali Hajimiri, Aydin Babakhani and Somayeh Sojoudi. During my PhD studies, I worked on several interdisciplinary problems in power systems, networks, communications, circuits, distributed computation and control.

I received my Bachelor degree from Sharif University of Technology in 2003 and my master's degree from Concordia University in 2007, both in Electrical Engineering. My master's thesis won the F. A. Gerard Prize (best thesis in the school of engineering), Governor General of Canada’s Gold Medal (best campus-wide master's/PhD thesis at Concordia University) and Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools Master's Thesis Award (best master's thesis written in 2007-2009 in the category of Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering in more than 120 universities including Harvard, Yale and Cornell).

I have authored more than 50 papers during my master and PhD studies. I am a Senior Member of IEEE and have had different professional activities. I have won several awards including Postgraduate Scholarship of Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and Silver Medal in the International Mathematical Olympiad.

I will move to Stanford in September 2011 to take a postdoc position jointly with Electrical Engineering and Precourt Institute for Energy.
