| Cafe Santa Monica recently changed ownership and is no longer 24/7. It's open late (until around 2am), and the food is still passable, but now that it's not open all the time, it's not quite as high on my list of late-nite places to go. Still worth a try, nevertheless.

| Canters | 6 | 4 | $12 |
| 419 North Fairfax, West Hollywood, CA (323) 651-2030 |
Directions | ||
| My first experience at Canters was this past Christmas Eve. A friend and I were looking for something to do in LA, and this was the only place open. This is not surprising as Canter's is a Jewish Deli in West Hollywood. Even better, it's open 24/7, which is probably why I end up going there at least once a week. They serve all the usual deli sandwiches and an assortment of Jewish fare (decent Matzo Ball Soup, for one). I highly recommend the Pastrami Sandwich or the Canter's Fairfax. And don't think that just because it's a Jewish Deli that it's a boring place. After 10pm or so there's often a very interesting assortment of people there. This is probably among the best 24-hour restaurants in the LA area. Reservations are definitely not required.

| Carrows | 3 | 2 | $7 |
| 815 Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena, CA 91030 (626) 799-0561 |

| Ahh... Carrows. Carrows is one of my regular late nite hang out places to get food. It's not too expensive, and way better than Denny's. Way better is, of course, a relative statement. The food is decent (that is, edible and occasionally good), but the service sucks. I've never been there during the day, so I don't know how it varies with time. It is, unfortunately, one of the few close 24 hour eateries. NOTE: The Carrows in South Pasadena closes the first Monday of every month to clean their carpets.

| Coffee House | 7 | 5 | $6 |
| 8226 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90069 (323) 848-7007 |

| Coffee House used to be the most incredible 24-hour restaurant I've found. Unfortunately, now it's only open really late. They have very good, huge sandwiches, great breakfasts, and awesome french fries. It's a bit trendy but a great place to hit up after the bars or clubs on Sunset. Ironically, their coffee sucks.

| Denny's | 3 | 1 | $7 |
| 2627 East Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91107 (626) 795-0192 |

| Everyone's been to Denny's. If you haven't, go, just for the experience, but don't say I didn't warn you. The food sucks, the service is even worse, and the new quasi-futuristic decor comes with quasi-futuristic prices. If you want a late nite place, go to either Carrows or Canters.

| Go Go Cafe | 6 | 5 | $13 |
| 140 West Valley Boulevard, San Gabriel, CA 91776 (626) 280-3776 |

| Go Go Cafe is a late nite Chinese/American fusion restaurant (I think). It serves a strange assortment of food, most of which I didn't really like. It's also kind of pricey and trendy, qualities that do not endear it to me. It is open late at night (usually until 4am), so that's a bonus. I wouldn't go back, however.

| Jake's is a hole-in-the-wall place in Old Pas (imagine that!). They have burgers and some other finger-food. Probably a nice place for lunch once in a while. The service sucks, but the food is decent. Try the Ostrich Burger. They also have an ok bar with lots of pool tables in the basement.
