Notes:
Using Chemical rate laws and Michaelis-Menton kinetics, Novak and Tyson converted this molecular mechanism of the embryonic cell cycle regulatory system into a mathematical model, consisting of a set of differential equations and algebraic equations. If we look at our equation for cylin we see the parameter k1 which is the rate constant for cyclin synthesis. We also see the rate function k2 (responsible for the degradation of cyclin) actually is a function of APC. V2” is the rate constant for the degradation of cyclin when APC is in its most active form. We will be using v2” and k1 as we do the bifurcation analysis on this mathematical model.
