Arrival info
Whether you are flying in to LAX (Los Angeles) or Burbank, take the blue "Super Shuttle" from the airport to Caltech. In case of LAX you will get it from the middle curbside outside the baggage claim area. There are signs showing where the vans stop and you should find a person wearing a blue T-shirt that has "Super Shuttle" written on it.Tell him that you have to go to Caltech. Then when the van arrives you tell the driver that you want to go to the Athenaeum stop in Caltech. All drivers are supposed to know where that is. If he does not, you should tell him it is near the intersection of Hill Avenue and California Avenue in Pasadena.The fare should be $16 (special Caltech price).
Should I rent a car?
You need not rent a car. Caltech is within walking distance of many restaurants, shops and grocery stores. The new bus system in Pasadena is pretty good and now Pasadena is connected by Metro Rail to beaches, museums etc.Reimbursement
Please keep all travel receipts (including for the shuttle) for reimbursement. There are limits also which will vary with distance of the journey. There is also a special form that needs to be completed at the conference.Maps, Transportation, Traffic, Weather
