Volunteer

A Volunteer visitor is an associate (faculty, postdoctoral fellow, or graduate student) from another academic institution, who will be visiting to collaborate with Caltech faculty

• for no more than 30 consecutive days; or

• in multiple short periods (e.g. once a month = 12 days) and for no more than a cumulative total of 30 days; and

• one who is not paid a salary from Caltech.

Volunteer ID for Visitors (≤ 30 days)

All volunteer visitors are required to fill out Volunteer Forms upon arrival and submit them to the administrative assistant. The application will be processed by

and a form for a Caltech Identity Card (UID) will be provided. The identity card can be obtained at the

In addition, Volunteer Minors (under 18 years of age) have two extra forms to fill out and need a work permit.

Temporary

A temporary visitor is one who is coming to Caltech for less than 30 days for one visit per year. Administrative Assistants can request that a temporary ID be issued for these visitors to allow them access to Caltech facilities.
