Title: The structure of smooth diffeomorphisms of surfaces

Abstract:

It is known that surface diffeomorphisms exhibit a wide variety of interesting dynamical phenomena. We review several recent results concerning homoclinic tangencies, and SRB measures (physical measures). In particular, generically it will be shown that rather mild conditions yield invariant sets with dense orbits and maximal Hausdorff dimension.
